Our regular sessions on Tuesday and Friday mornings and Thursday evenings have restarted and over 40 members have attended each time (except Thursdays which are limited to 24).

We started with a longer warm-up session and playing just two games during the hour, but we are now back to our regular three.  Everyone seems really pleased to be back playing and probably more importantly socialising again.  There are strict Covid procedures in place which everyone has adhered to and we are now looking forward to non-football related activities as the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown rolls out.

New members are welcome to come as our Turn Up and Play policy is now back in use.  Unfortunately, we still cannot have spectators until at least May 17th, but if you don’t want to play yet, you come and do some limbering up and kicking a ball about on the pitch.  Football boots are required for this, but if you don’t have any, we can provide some, which have been cleaned and are ready for use.

After two rounds of matches, our Over 50s team is now top of the Somerset County League. In April games were played at Strode College in Street and the team won 3 and drew two.  There are two more rounds to go, one in May and the last one ‘at home’ on Sunday 6th June.  The team have obviously benefitted from fortnightly training sessions on the main pitch on Monday evenings.

The Somerset Over 60s League has been cancelled for this season, but Gloucestershire FA hope to go ahead with the Over 70s competition in some form.

The club hope to run three friendly tournaments at the AJN Stadium on Wednesdays in July for Over 60s. 65s and 70s. More details will be announced when they have been finalised,
