Hello members and friends of Keynsham Town Junior Football Club.

Firstly, I would like to wish you all a belated Happy New Year and I hope that you are safe and well in these extremely difficult times.

Obviously, this year has been like no other and although there haven’t been many positives, what this situation has highlighted is the large number of selfless and caring members at the club, this includes both parents and coaches.

Getting back to safe football was not an easy task. When Chris (normally on the front gate with the hand sanitiser) volunteered for the role of Child Welfare Officer, I assured him in early 2020 that it shouldn’t be too consuming a role. That role quickly merged into Covid Officer. This involved numerous conversations about how we should return to football and producing a detailed risk assessment that must be made available to the Somerset Fa. It makes me chuckle when it looks like Chris ‘just’ organises the hand sanitiser on the gate on a Saturday morning, knowing how much work went into getting us to that stage. Martin Coles also helps regularly on a Saturday morning in addition to his coaching sessions and the countless other tasks he helps with at the club.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Nicola and Gaby, who are the current secretaries for the Hanham Minor League and Avon Youth League. Their roles were already busy enough without the numerous fixture changes which as you can imagine is a long process, trying to sort a convenient date between coaches from different clubs.

We are now in lockdown again and we all hope we will be playing football again very soon, fingers crossed it will be in bright sunshine.

I have not been able to thank most of the volunteers in this short note. If you are a volunteer at the club, thank you so much for your time and commitment, especially during these difficult times.

If, when football returns you would like to be more involved in the club, many hands really do make light work, and we would welcome any help.

Please stay safe, we look forward to seeing you soon,

Kind regards

Richard.
